Well folks, now that we are all back safe and sound from our rather hair-raising trip to Venice, and now that Doreen & Julie have recovered from their "dip" in the Grand Canal,(not to mention Eleanor & Jean trespassing in the Doge`s Palace & Lyn chasing the pigeons in St. Mark`s Square with her scissors ) it is time to think about our next outing.

As you will know by now, there is a Royal Wedding coming up. We are bound to be invited now that we are famous (infamous??) so it`s time to make plans. I know Julie has offered to knit our costumes, with her kit from the newspaper, but I`m sure if we put our heads together we can come up with something better than that. After all, we don`t want to appear before Royalty in dropped stitches, do we?

We should finalise numbers and outfits, as we don`t want any colour clashes, and of course, we will be sitting in full view of the world`s cameras, so come on girls, thinking caps on please, and remember, on this occasion we must be tasteful. Without giving anything away, I shall be wearing a very big hat, as I just can`t be sure Lyn won`t have her scissors in her handbag, and I think I will be wearing a rather nice pastel shade in a soft peach or apricot.

Dear Eleanor, will you be able to do without your pom-pom hat by then? I know Lyn has left you with lasting damage, but perhaps a nice straw?

Kathleen x

Ah- now THIS is more fitting for me!
Rather upset that my knitted outfits aren't good enough but I will rise above it. I go for my first fitting tonight.

Lavender for me Smile As long as I can get the tassels to match. Oh, are we supposed to be showing a bit of decorum? And does that mean no tassels? Sad

Well, if you're like me Anthea, you can wear tassels with decorum, no problem. Mine are going to be gold and purple, really the only colours befitting for a royal wedding.

I just hope Jean doesn't turn up in the gold thong.Scared

By the way, did we have a good time in Venice? I really can't remember going!Blink
I blame the drugs.

I have already reserved us a couple of pews in the Abbey. I'll be making some "reserved" cards and taking them down the day before to hang on the pew ends. I'm in need of suggestions for tasteful signs. Did sort of think along the lines of a fusion of each of our coats of arms (or even arms of our coats) in some muted, soft colours - maybe orange board with decoration in silver and yellow paper roses? Ideas please. Now, as for our outfits are concerned - I am planning a Vivienne Westwood original and will let you have a few details very shortly. We need transport to get there, somewhere to stay and, of course an invite to Charlie's evening "do".

Erm.....pastel peach, Kathleen? Wow - that really IS restrained for you and as for the big hat - forget it. If there is no hair, Lyn will trim the hat! We just HAVE to do something about that woman.

Oh.......I thought you would already have the invite to Charlie's evening do?
I got mine 3 weeks ago, busy working on an outfit for that now.

It`s pointless Doreen getting an invite to Charlie`s " do" as she will just get mortally drunk as usual and remember nothing afterwards - she`s already admitted she can`t remember being in Venice.

I think you may be right about the hat, Jean - Lyn will definitely be a threat to it. Perhaps I`ll reconsider. Are you making the paper roses yourself, or is someone doing them for you? Won`t they be at risk from Lyn`s scissors as well?

My accommodation is already fixed - the bride`s family have taken over a complete hotel for the occasion. I`m sure I can get you all in if we`re quick.

Let me know when you want the coat of arms Jean. I`m designing one next week for me.

Is there any truth in the rumour that Eleanor has been asked to make the wedding cake? It`s just I was wondering if they are aware of her "special ingredients?" And remember that time she made a celebration cake a couple of years ago? The one with the exploding figures on the top? We had to call the fire brigade that time.

I`m not actually bringing the snake, as he has put me in charge of all you ladies, since none of you seem to know how to conduct yourselves with even a modicum of decorum.

And please, Julie, remember to change out of your uniform before we go to the Abbey.

You won’t believe what dropped through my letter box this morning! Oh yes, only a Royal Warrant (no, not for my arrest!) requesting my attendance at Buck House in the very special capacity of ‘Big Snip’! Word has got around about my stunning scissor style (clearly courtesy of Eleanor and you lovely girls in the Tassel Brigade!) and they would like me to take on the job of addressing the hairstyling requirements of all the Royal Household ...

Wait ‘til you see what I have in mind for Liz and Phil, deep green base colours and red spikes along the top edge. Liz fancied a few extensions but I thought it a bit OTT for this sort of occasion. And as for William I thought a stunning cerise rinse with Royal blue zigzag flashes. I was going to keep it a secret but am so excited I just wanted to share this special news with you all Smile

So ladies if you want to have your hair looking cool, and matching your outfits, for the big day you had better be making appointments soon as I am sure to be getting booked up very quickly now. Better get my outfit sorted, hmm ...
